Houseless on Stolen Land
A collaborative publication with Sogorea Te’ Land Trust, Street Spirit and Street Sheet News .

In these pages, you’ll find poetry, personal stories, and artwork depicting the hardships imposed by colonization, as well as envisioning a liberated and decolonized future.

Visualizing a Decolonized Landscape
This project was created to visualize a decolonized and rematriated landscape in deep East Oakland. Based on the concrete lined stormwater channel that runs adjacent to the first piece of land returned to Indigenous stewardship in the territory. This vision is based on restoration of relationships informed by Indigenous women led land return, social justice dreams, oral histories, geography and geomorphology.
When Oakland Roots Soccer Team wanted to acknowledge the ancestral caretakers of the land they are on, they started by learning more about its history. Working with our creative team we created a tribute on the field at Laney College with a giant stencil.
Our Creative Director collaborated with Ace Makers Space to create and Indigenous Makers Residency as part of their work to go beyond land acknowledgements and take actions in support of Native communities. This residency has been designed to elevate Indigenous voices and impacts on tech and maker culture. The residency offers a stipend and access to Ace’s technology, resources and tools.
